Reddit and Twitch Suspend Donald Trump Campaign Accounts

JAKARTA – President of the United States (US) Donald Trump has again received rejection from social media. Even the Trump campaign accounts were suspended for violating hate speech rules.
Quoting The Guardian, Wednesday July 1, Reddit chief executive Steve Huffman said they had a policy tosuspend or suspend accounts that contain hate speech. The Reddit community has also banned all forms of campaigning on the forum.

In response to the suspension of Donald Trump’s campaign account on the Reddit forum, a Trump campaign spokesman argued they were directing people to the Trump campaign app “to hear the president’s speech live.”
In fact, Reddit has “quarantined” a number of accounts suspected of spreading hate speech on its forums since last year. Reddit data shows that Donald Trump’s related accounts have more than 7,780 daily active users, since being inaugurated as president in 2016.
“All communities on Reddit must comply with our content policies in good faith. We banned r / The_Donald for not complying with it, aside from every opportunity, “said Huffman.
Streaming platform Twitch has also done something similar, which has temporarily suspended Donald Trump’s official channel. The suspension of the account of the number one person in the US occurred because some of the content broadcast contained hate speech and brought racial issues.
Twitch has provided the following statement: “Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch. In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream”

A Twitch spokeswoman said the platform had notified the “presidential team” last year that there were no exceptions on the site for political content or breaking news.
The company’s social media content policies have been in the spotlight this month, as Facebook Inc faces employee strikes and an advertising boycott over its outright handling of racist and violent posts amid national anti-racism protests and ahead of the November 3 election.
Earlier this month, Twitter began placing a warning label on some of Trump’s posts, while Snap Inc, parent company Snapchat, said it would no longer promote Trump’s account on its Discover page.
Likewise, YouTube says it shut down six accounts widely credited with building support for right-wing views online of hate speech offenses, including a channel run by Richard Spencer, Stefan Molyneux and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.
